1976 in der Schweiz gegründet, begann Assos zunächst mit Bike-Hardware (man schreibt sich dort den ersten Bikerahmen aus Karbon zugute), um dann 1977 mit einer Lycra-Bike-Short aufzuwarten.
Noch heute im Familienbesitz, werden viele Produkte von Hand in der Schweiz gefertigt. Egal, was es kostet. So hat sich Assos über die Jahre den Ruf erworben, zur Crème der Crème im Bereich der Bikebekleidung zu gehören.
